I’ve written in the past about great restaurants in Palm Springs. Of course, there’s never been a shortage of top places to dine in the city. But now that list is getting longer thanks to the opening of several new restaurants over the last few months. From breakfast to dinner these are the places to hit up on your next trip to the desert.
If you’ve tried any of these I’d love your feedback on them, or let me know other places I should try.

With decor that’s a stunning kaleidoscope of colour and brightness, Eight4Nine is easily the most beautiful new restaurant that’s opened in Palm Springs. Fortunately it’s not all style and no substance here at this Palm Canyon Drive eatery. The food is both interesting and exceptionally delicious.
Try the strawberry ‘Fraise Sauvage’ cocktail with wild strawberry puree and prosecco before diving in to the tender and crispy Willa Jean’s Fried Chicken. If you’re hoping to make an impression on a date or a business contact, bring them to Eight4Nine for a memorable meal.

Another gorgeous room, Draughtsman opened last December. Featuring natural wood and cavernous space this hipster-ready joint looks like it’ll be a popular place for the college set.
A central bar fills the room and comfortable booths also provide space for lounging.
If you want to goose your tastebuds, order the Bang Bang PB&J, a peanut butter and jam sandwich on crack. With roasted cashew butter on grilled date-walnut bread, there’s also a central layer of Thai chile strawberry jam, shaved cucumbers and mint. You’ll think there’s no way this should work in a sandwich, but trust me, it does.
Don’t forget breakfast!
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day (who is ‘they’ anyway?) and it’s good to know there are some new brekkie sport to try too.
Broken Yolk Cafe

There’s something special about going out for breakfast. Maybe it’s because so many of us don’t put much thought into what we’re eating first thing in the morning. We just grab junk food and get out the door. Too bad because breakfast is where you can have all kinds of fun and really get creative with your food .
For starters try the new Broken Yolk restaurant on South Palm Canyon Drive. While there’s been a Broken Yolk out in La Quinta, now the unique dishes are available centrally in Palm Springs.
Dig into the amazingly good Border Benedict. (OK, this photo doesn’t do it justice, but you’ve got to trust me on this.) Take the tired English muffin, and switch it with crispy fresh cornmeal cakes, then add carne asada in place of the peameal bacon, and fresh home made poblano sauce instead of lemony hollandaise and you’ve got a tasty twist on tradition.
More traditional food is on the menu too and Broken Yolk also serves lunch.
While these new restaurants have opened in the last few months, there are still new places coming. Keep watch and we’ll let you know when the newest wave of hotspots are ready too!
